Number plate or speed camera?

I am a little surprised that my front number plate is starting to fade despite the car being less than two
years old. I bought it new and have never had this problem on previous cars which were second hand.

My OH had this problem on a previous car which he owned and was told when he took it for M.O.T.
that he may have to get a new one.

I've heard that a faded number plate is an MOT failure Dot.
