Hi Folks, Im trying to get rid of some old computer kit to make space so if anyone is interested then please let me know, I hate throwing stuff out but sometimes it just has to go.

There is a very old apple ][ system shown below, it powers up but needs some TLC and a keyboard, Ive also got a few very old IBM compatible PC'S ( 486 + a P800 ) and an old apple power pc. If your interested in any of it let me know and I can give you better details.

Clearout update!

Just found a big box of old books if anyone wants them Ive listed them below.

THE TIMES ATLAS OF WORLD HISTORY - gone to a good home :)
VIRTUE'S HOME TUTOR ( ILLUSTRATED )
ILLUSTRATED CHILDRENS DICTIONARY VOLUMES G-Q AND R-Z
THE WORLD OF ARTS AND PASTIMES
CHILDRENS LIBRARY OF KNOWLEDGE
CHILDRENS BOOK OF NATURE
NEW JUNIOR ENCYCLOPEDIA VOLS 1-18 ( 18 BOOKS ) FULL SET

These books are pretty dated ( 1970 - 1973 ) some of the information is very outdated but is an interesting read all the same.

Ill have them for a few weeks then Ill have to get rid. The charity shop didnt even want them, I was told that they have too many books and that these ones were too old for their needs. Aint they getting picky!!

Anyway if anyone wants them just let me know as I would hate to have to put them out for the bin men.

Dougie,

Is that Apple a DIY job? Looks like it's in a custom case.

Yeah it was custom built for the NHS, I kind of rescued it from a skip when I was working at the Victoria Infirmary a few years ago. Think it may have been used in the old I.C.U. back in the early 80's. The motherboard is date stamped by Apple 1978, a year before I was born. 8O Cant believe people would throw away a piece of history.

My informant tells me that it was almost certainly built by the (now) Professor of Anaesthesia, Gavin Nicolson Cleghorn Kenny (BSc (Hons) MB ChB, FRCA, MD, FANZCA).

If that helps you get rid of it quicker. :D

That is very possible! Ive just been reading up about him, I know that the NHS were very reluctant to introduce computer systems back in the 70's but they almost run the NHS now. From looking at the system alot of time and effort has gone into adapting it, its been a proper job. Its scary when you think that a device the size of mobile phone can do almost a hundred times more than this device. Maybe I should be contacting a museum? Thanks for the info Josef, it makes interesting reading.

Stack of CDs....

Not sure how many CDs - I'm having a tidy up & a clear out - so there are lots of magazine CDs from MOjo & Uncut magazines 0- compilations of generally good quality music & several copies of CDs I have since replaced by remastered versions - Gathering dust, and some other stuff.

Sounds tempting ! - - - - - well alright.

If you want some or all of these, send me a PM - I'll make a final list and get back to you .No I wont = The whole lot is going to Hospital Radio & Sunny Radio Govan. Cheers Dex
