GHA housing ?

Postby glasgowken » Sun Apr 01, 2007 3:19 pm

What's the chances of someone with no medical conditions, and not homeless, getting a GHA flat ?

Probably depends where you'd like/ are prepared to live.

Chances Nil

My mate had to claim he was homeless before he got a house in springburn. His major disadvantage was he was employed.

A number of the north and west Glasgow housing associations are setting up a common housing register in an attempt to simplify the application process, but, as Dexter says, the chances are slim. Turnover, especially in the more desirable areas, is low and demand high.

It is with the deepest regret and the heaviest heart that I write this reply, but to get a house/flat, try the following; refugee, pregnant, homeless, drug addict and alcoholic.

Before you jump on the bandwagon and suggest that I am racist, sexist or anything - my work involves getting people homes and those are the criteria we have to work with!

Convincing them you're an alcoholic shouldn't be too difficult - I'm pretty sure I
could swing that one easily enough...

If you arent too picky on where you want you will get somewhere.

Try all the other Housing Associations too, Partick, and Queens Cross are the only two I know of for certain in the West/North of the City. Good Luck!
