Is it any good?

Is there anywhere I have to vist?

Is there anywhere I have to avoid?

Is there anything I should take with me??

I'm lookin' for the kind of advice that you don't get in the guide books!!!

Don't take a taxi in the street - the ones with the black and white check down the side. Total cowboys who'll rip you off. Only use taxis you've phoned a number for.

And don't stand outside the Sparta Prague ground before the local derby with Slavia if you don't want to end up in WW3 surrounded by skinheads rioting in black bomber jackets. These guys made the Old Firm look like pussies.

Other than that it's a fabulous city - the old town tends to charge a bit dearer for the tourists but isn't that the case everywhere?

And climb up to the castle - it's worth the walk for the views. At the top of Wenceslas Square look out for the plaster marks on the National Museum caused by Soviet tank shells during the 1968 invasion.

There's an Afghanistan restuarant called the Ariana well worth a look, which has great food.

Another restuarant we liked is themed on the Good Soldier Svejk, which is fun is you like bratfurst and cabbage. It's near the Jewish quarter.

There's an Irish pub as well in the old town - prices are about the same as here so avoid it!

The castle is also good for that moment when you're sure you've seen this place in a film before, but you can't think which one.
