Depending on the age of the person, they might not actually have twigged that you can turn off the key-click noise, and would be glad of the opportunity to conceal from their manager that they are spending all day texting rather than working.

Unless, of course, they are the manager.

You could give me their phone number and I'll text them a message:

"Please could you turn the key-beep off so as not to distract your colleagues?"

I once had an annoying guy sit next to me at work who had a fidgetty leg like the Red Bull boss on Formula One. He made all the neighbouring desks shake and I couldn't read my screen for the wobbling. I just asked him to stop. I had to ask him a few times and eventually had to move the desk a few inches. He was quite oblivious to the annoyance he was causing and quite oblivious to the complaints. He was away with the fairies and never going to take umbrage.

Josef,
You are quite right and the person involved is close to retirement.

Our boss has an office all to themselves on the floor below.
We do have other management of less importance who work on our floor level.

I suppose I shouldn't make fun of people as I have never been too good with technology myself.
My OH has so many handsets and wires in the house that I don't know what they are all for.
I have told him that if he dies before me they will be buried/cremated along with him.
I will only keep those that I can use.

I don't know. I suppose being a wee bitty long in the tooth I'm that I am at an age where I no longer take any crap from managers. Most when they get to know me tend to steer clear of me. If they are walking about with their hands in their pockets then I'll soon tell em off. We have a new one who is cracking down on the guys not being clean shaven, making them shave or get sent home. He has yet to challenge me (have had beard for40odd yrs). I also get pissed off when they talk-a-good- job . I dont stand slackers at all. I have always had this teory----Way back in olden times where there were several sons in a family. The family name/title/money/business went to the first born.
The second son went into the army/navy etc. Whoever was the last born , usually the family idiot, well hw went into the clergy.
These days the IDIOT son becomes a manager in food retail.

The girl who does the whole make-up routine at the desk is going to finish us all off with fumes from her aerosol cans.
If she isn't spraying hair spray then she sprays anti perspirant.

Lucky for her that the small minority of people in the office with asthma do not work in our section.
I can't imagine it can be good for your innards to have all that come wafting across your desk.

Dot I really couldn't put up with it. Since living down here ie the equivalent of living in damp dank cave, like all the inhabitants of Fermanagh I've developed sinus problems and for me one the things about having it is that any smell is enhanced a hundred times 8O so I have banned all aerosols... and arseholes from the house.
