Ok gang, hold on to your bunnets, this one's a corker.

This afternoon at work, we're all working away quite the thing, counting down the minutes until chucking out time, when one of the guys at another table finds something weird in the file he's doing.

Ready for this?

A plastic specimen tube, with a swab in it, and a note saying the person was HIV positive.

Now, I'm pretty sure that A: that's a Health and Safety issue, and more importantly B: it's a fucking biohazzard!

So, managers and team leads went into a wee huddle, and for the moment it's a case of if anything similar turns up, give your team lead a shout and they'll deal with it.

However, I'm, gonna give my mate Nick up in Perth a buzz. Him and his missus are medics, and I want their thoughts on the matter.
Another sunrise with my sad captains, with who I choose to lose my mind,
And if it's all we only pass this way but once, what a perfect waste of time.

I think that is a good idea Spleen as it doesn't sound like something that should have happened.

By GOD I work with some manky bastards!

Just after one o'clock this afternoon, I went to the gents for a crap. Had to flush some other fuckers leavings before I even dropped by trousers.

Pretty sure he'd been having a fly vape as well.

Gonnna sleep on the matter, and if I'm still angry about it in the morning, I'll have a wee word with one of the managers.

Did you ever get a resolution to this Spleen?

Not yet Boxer, no. I'm keeping it under my hat for the moment, but believe me if anything like that happens again words will be had with the Health and Safety Executive. Possibly also the polis and the local paper as well.

I was up in Perth at the weekend there, and spoke to my medic mate about it.

He agreed with me that it shouldn't have happened because the company I work for is neither equipped nor trained to deal with such things.

I'm telling you if it gets any hotter in the office I will be digging out my sun hat and lilo.

It is exhausting so we had to have the windows open and don't know whether they have cranked it up to the pass out any moment setting. It seems like we are in a building where heat and air con don't seem to work particularly well.

I was almost glad to get outdoors to make the journey home except it was a miserable wet evening but at least it cools you down.

Well, that'll be me on the dole again come the end of my shift on Friday afternoon.

Lack of actual work at work means folk are getting paid off.

They say it'll only be temporary, and that things might kick up next month (meaning May), but I'm not gonna hold my breath.

Spleen,

I am sorry to hear that and hope you might get back again if things pick up.
Hope they give you a good send off if this turns out to be the case.

Thanks Dot.

My plan is to go to the pub for a couple of hours after work and have a bevvy or three to console myself.

Had a wee chat with our nice HR lady and got a couple of things clarified.

Yes - it's only temporary.
Yes - I will get a call to come back as soon as the work starts coming in.

So, meantime, square things with the job centre, keep my head down, treat my time off as a wee holiday to recharge my batteries.

On Monday morning, when my alarm goes of at 6am, I will take great pleasure in switching it off, turning over, and going back to sleep for a couple of hours. :)

Things are all sorted with the job centre. Just keep my nose clean, do my jobsearch, and don't make waves.

Don't ask me why, but I'm getting the feeling I'll be back at work by mid May. There's a two month backlog of Scanning, so I'm assuming the higher ups will want to get shot of the bulk of that before they bring anyone back for Prep work.
