anyone watch that program on Channel 4 on Monday night, about the Aral Sea (between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan). Some really good filming. There were abandoned boats miles from where the sea now is, and a trip to an island the Soviets had used for chemical/biological weapons testing.

I saw it. The fella that does it is a real dramarama though.
I saw some other guy go to the same place (maybe Ian Wright from lonely planet) and he wasn't wearing any protective gear at all.

I was watching Genghis Khan on BBC1 and forgot that Going to Extremes: the Silk Routes was on at the same time. Bugger!

I'm sorry I missed this too. I remember seeing something before about the shrinkage of the Aral but don't remember the specifics.
