Michael Marra RIP

Postby InkMan » Wed Oct 24, 2012 2:07 pm

Seems that Michael Marra passed away this morning. Only sixty - no age at all.

With thanks to Sheena Wellington for the heads-up on this.

Michael

he deserves a song

at least as wide

as those he gave us

a national anthem

his wee frame

carried gigantic thoughts

glittering with notes

up hills, into bars, into hearts

we were glad he dumped

coal in our bath

the tang of laughter-tears

in our soul

and the delight

he found around

he shared

an invisible teacher

his microscope

revealed the world

and the world

beside the world

he showed us

where beauty is found

an act of kindness

a gift

for us

and our only exchange

the tears

he would not seek

"The charity Sistema Scotland has set up a concert orchestra with youngsters in Govanhill, similar to the highly-successful scheme it runs in the Raploch area of Stirling.

Primary pupils showed off their musical skills at two outdoor concerts in Govanhill Park.

Richard Holloway, chairman of Sistema Scotland said: "We hope the whole community can get behind this orchestra. "
