Crispy Rolls and Chopped Ham & Pork / SPAM?

Postby Fireman » Wed Jul 18, 2012 5:30 am

Strange question perhaps - however can anyone point me in the right direction in Partick or Maryhill where I can buy Chopped Ham & Pork or SPAM from a long roll cut on a slicing machine?

I've tried the supermarket packeted stuff and it just doesn't do it for me and I could murder a decent roll & CHP/SPAM on a well-fired crispy roll like I used to buy from wee dairies. Even a dairy, if such a thing still exists would be fine.

Mods - if this isn't the sort of post you accept please delete, I'll just have to learn to live without an 'old friend'. ::):

Now let's get this right: you've actually marked a thread as SPAM... If that doesn't lure the thread-eating monster from it's lair, I don't know what will,

"I before E, except after C" works in most cases but there are exceptions.

Purchase from Sainsbury's the Chopped Ham and go to a shop that sells 'well fired rolls' and hey presto!

Sainsbury's use the Celebrity chopped pork - which is the one that you are asking about.

I knew I'd be taking my life in my hands asking here - and you guys haven't let me down. :D

Many thanks, I can hear the crunch now as I bite into that well-fired crispy roll, with of course Celebrity chpped pork - yum!

And I'll be visiting here as well - "Theres a wee cold meat shop on dumbarton road just after crow road (heading towards apsley street),". Thanks tobster.

Yes indeed it's called 'The meat counter'. Been there for years and does various cold meats including Chopped Ham.

Scrummy :P

Remember it wasn't the best big man but not sure if it's still there. I doubt it though given the general decline in the area.

You want a decent chopped pork roll then drop into Mabel McKinleys tearoom in the GRI at the Ally Pally entrance. Superb.

Check out Nan's Dairy, Inglefield Street, Govanhill. A traditional roll shop wi the big mental slicer and a fine selection of cold meats.

Christ, I'm starving :o
