Yes banjo everything going up in price there's no doubt about it.

There's a hotel not a million miles from us.
I haven't been in it for quite some time and last time it was to use a voucher given to me by a relative.
Well I have read so many complaints in recent times about the huge prices they are charging I wonder if they might just
end up closing. It is almost like they think they can charge prices people would pay in London.

People here don't like being ripped off.

banjo,
I love fish, chips and mushy peas and scampi too.
These dishes were always something I would have ordered in past times if you were out for a meal and nothing else
on the menu appealed.
Though have read articles to say that fish and chips along with steaks are items that some places were having to consider whether to have on menu due to soaring costs.

::): ::): Henrysix,

Couldn't tell you last time I had a 'Babycham'.
I believe 'Babycham' is to be relaunched.

When was it they stopped doing basket meals?
Oh how things have changed over the years from square plates to pieces of slate and chips being served in little metal baskets.

Had my regular pint and fish supper night: bus to pub, pint(s) in pub, nip next door to chippie, order, back next door for pint(s), pick up fish supper, pint(s), bus home.
This time 2 large cods and 1 bag of chips 19.18. Staff sympathetic but have to pass on their increased costs. Still best chippie in town. May miss out the fish supper element of futurne nights out.
And it was 8p in Govan when I was a wee boy for a fish supper.

I wonder how much a fish supper and pint would be in Wetherspoons?
Though with things as they are I'd probably prefer to support smaller businesses and pubs at this time than the chains.

banjo,

Nothing for tea this evening after a big feed at 3 pm and only three of us today.
Our other son who lives in Lancashire having his dinner with his partner and their family.

I have heard a lot of people saying they weren't having a turkey this year for one reason or another.
We just had a nice Chicken this year as to be honest we probably prefer it and had roasties, sprouts, pigs in blankets,
broccoli and red cabbage with gravy and cranberry sauce.

Expect we may have turkey tomorrow as meeting up with relatives.

Hope your cooking went well and a Happy Christmas to all on HG.

A BBQ pulled pork and cheesy mash from Tesco. Possibly a couple of chocolate biscuits for afters.
Another sunrise with my sad captains, with who I choose to lose my mind,
And if it's all we only pass this way but once, what a perfect waste of time.
