Thank god Wills and Kate are here to take our minds off debt, unemployment, government cuts, pay freezes.

Time to dust down the old bunting, get out the jelly and ice cream and have a street party.

FFS, these people don't even live on the same planet as the rest of us.

It's a classic diversion tactic .. thank God I'm not the only one cynical enough to think so.

I will not be complaining if we get an extra bank holiday because of the marriage.

This whole thing has me slightly baffled. I was told at work several weeks ago that there would be an extra Public Holiday next year due to this wedding.

I asked today where the story had come from, and was told it was announced on Radio Scotland at the time.

"Her parents can't be overly happy. She has been largely unemployed since she left school and is now marrying someone who has been on
welfare most of his life. With the new government's promise to cut
housing benefit and force those who repeatedly turn down work into
manual labour I do worry for them."

"i see the commie anti royalists are out in force in this comment page if you lot do not like the royals go to commie russia or china............."

Both from the Daily Mail on line comments
"I before E, except after C" works in most cases but there are exceptions.

Anyone who thinks that the royal wedding was just waiting for Wills to make up his mind is deluded mind you the wedding budget and how much you and I are contributing will be well scrutinised but then the "x factor" appeal to us minions will be deduced as well

"I'm a Royal - Get me.......

you fill in the blanks :D

Deluded?

Moi?

Just because I think they're putting listening devices in our steak lorne, doesn't make me a nutter.

Seriously though, I don't think for a minute that the engagement was contrived for our political oligarchs' Machiavellian pleasure, but the timing of the announcement is more than a bit fortuitous for my liking.

All the media reports are telling us how inundated they are by mail from America about how excited by the wedding they are.Soooooo why not let the yanks take it over and hold it in Disneyland or the Hollywood Bowl or something? The media are coming in their pants with the prospect of having a new Di on their hands.

Perhaps if the Spode Factory make some money by selling souvenir plates then is that not a good thing?

Will the event not attract a certain level of tourism?
