Nope Bridge .. very rarely partake these days. It's the depression, almost certain of it.

Seems like you're a step ahead on the self-awareness DS, that's an advantage I think. That book Brigit recommended on the depression thread is well worth a read. It explains how the illness works and when it strikes, and emphasises that it's a physical illness and not "just in your head". Take care of yourself.

I also suffer from severe depression and the associated insomnia. At first I tried to get to sleep by having a nice glass of malt before bed but that came with its own problems (as you may know if taken over a period of time you have to take increasing amounts to get the same effect which in turn makes the depression worse) I was recommended a herb called Valerian Root (available from Holland and Barrett in Clydebank) It worked for me. It is non addictive, gives me a good nights sleep and doesn't have the same side effects as for example Kalms or Nite All which are essentially a form of anti hystamine. I did not want to take prescription sleeping tablets due to their addictive nature. If you are taking anti depressants obviously talk to your doctor first. Hope it helps.

Thank very much for your words people and, while I have some insight this time as to a possible onset, the time of this post will probably impart that it's not slowing down it's impending arrival any.

Spoken to 'the man' and (another) tinker with the meds is being arranged post haste. I've ordered that book Bridge and Jodie .. just awaiting its arrival.

Recurring theme at the moment, impending arrivals.

Scotty100, I'll speak to the appropriate professionals about the Valerian root before taking the plunge but, like yourself, I don't want to go down the route of sleeping tablets, partly because of the addictive nature and partly because of the whole "sick to death of taking tablets" thing. More is what I really don't need. Ho hum.

Also, and here's where it gets all anonymous, I'd like to thank the individual who sent me the PM yesterday regarding these matters. My God, just as you begin to think humanity is lost and disappearing up it's own arse in a shitstorm maelstrom of greed and fuckoffery, someone flicks a beacon on and shows you there's a way through that involves real people, with real empathy and not a hint of selfishness and it refreshes the soul.

Just to add my positive thoughts to others here Doorstop.

I too have heard good things about Valerian root though it must be pointed out that, root or no, it is a medicine, and should really be treated as such.


Yesterday, I saw an extremely rare sight for the modern age ~ a teenage girl going to school, with a skirt on, no tights or leggings and NO fake tan!!! WTF was her mother thinking, sending her out like that? Have they no shame?

Was just parking it this morning on way to work and noticed it seemed to be gleaming in the sun.
After locking up I spotted that someone had christened it with raw eggs which were dried in and a soupcon of egg
