The Brandon, Motherwell.

I was in there one night in March 2001, and saw a guy get his throat cut at the bar.

Definitely the most dodgy pub in my experience.

Hey Kirkguy,
I got sieged in at the Royal Oak about five years ago, I played a gig in there and it all kicked off!!

The new monaco bar at Bridgeton , i saw a guy who had just won at pool get skelped with a cue for beating the pub hardman.

I'm surprised nobody's mentioned the Albion Way just up from what was the "Wine Alley" in Govan. It's known jokingly as "The Stab Inn"....well dodgy. 8O

Hmmm, The Pollok Inn on Brockburn Road in Pollok. It's the only pub outside Beirut that has no windows...then again, you have The Cart on Corkerhill Road.... :(

I've been trying for years to get my friends to go on a pub crawl through the dodgy (read ALL) pubs in the north Glasgow area.

Starting at the Tower Bar at the Roon Toll, up to the moss Hoose with the The Rock (actually a very friendly place, but we pass it so it has to be included) and The Possil Bar. Along Saracen Street with all it's adventures, The Standard, The Saracen Bar, The Balmore (which, would you believe, has only recently had metal shutters installed. It was just bare windows before), and The Brothers Bar/Avon Lounge. Then across to The New Hawthorn and round to The Comet (the one in the Robson and Jerome video from years back). Lastly we should hit The Gimlet. If we have time or are still able (alive), we could try and include Bensons on Keppochill Road and The Ashfield, but they're a bit out the way.

None of them will do it. "Am no gon in there, Ah'll git stabbed if Ah go in there!!" etc. etc. But I've got some bargaining chips now, The Gimlet will be getting knocked down soon, so the pressure's on.

Jesus!!, that was quick. The Gimlet is gone!!. Just been along Ruchill Street and there's nothing but an empty shell! Cross that one off the list. The New Hawthorn seems to have disappeared too, couldn't see it from the main road there.

Foss, you may be talking about the Glen Douglas which is next door to a petrol station, almost, there's a little side street with a row of shops in it in between. Also The Inn, which is down at the canal, opposite a car sales place, and what used to be a scrapyard next door. That has a row of shops just up from it with a church across the road from them. Both further along Balmore Road. Been in them too many times, as well as Mallon's in between (set on fire a while back, not reopened yet). They'll have to go on the list now.
