Fouquets is still in operation. The only thing redeeming about the place is the mosaic floor......cafe cini? is the name not been changed?

Cafe Cini is still open (just) but with a change of ownership and is now called Bar Cini. I read a bit in the paper about it. It was threatened with getting the licence taken off them after a few violent attacks in the pub, but after pointing out that it's record is better than Lloyds No.1 roon the corner which escaped criticism, it stayed open. The bouncers on the door have hand-held metal detectors* now though! 8O

I kinda like Firewater for the simple reason, you can get a "Duff bear" there. I've got a "Homer Simpson" tatoo, so this is a big draw for me.

During the dreamy sunny last Saturday afternoon me and a.n.other ended up in Babbity Bowsers in the Merchant City. I was well warned this was a poncy tourist trap. I can only say that we had a great time. Interesting company, including my local MSP who was right dead nice to me. Up to 14 individual traditional folk musicians just seemed to turn up and tune in. It went on without pause or stop for all the many, many, unintended hours we stayed. Only drawbacks were that prices were steep (but the selection and quality of beer was good) and it could have done with decent ventilation, even despite the door to the beer garden being kept wide open - and I suppose the trail to the gents does need a bit of careful negotiation once you had a few beers.Eventually, there seemed to be an early evening flow of luvvies showing up but they were entertaining in their unknowing way and nobody seemed to take them at all serious.

Upstairs at the Chip is hard to beat for me. Live ale, live lager, live cider.

Also the bar at rogano for a cocktail on a Saturday afternoon. Went in once to wait on a table downstairs and had 7 dry martinis. you should of seen the bill!

Couldn't agree more, whenever i'm down the road, Firewater is a big one for me. Still like Bier Halle and The Griffin, fine pint of Tennents in there!
