Think about the markup on pizza, must make a fair bit of
profit considering the ingredients. The same goes for soup
and omelette 8O

Uni Takeaway on Byres Rd, for best value. Something like £3.10 for a margarita, extra toppings 50p. But very tasty.

Pizza's must be the biggest rip-off of all fast foods.
I could never figure how a bit of dough and a few veg could cost so much :(

I take it the whole concept of "Supply and demand" seems to have passed you by !

Home made Pizza receipe

Sift together the following dry ingredients:

225g/8oz of strong white bread flour
½ tsp of salt
½ tsp of sugar
1 tbsp of grated parmesan cheese (oot a tub is fine)
1 sachet of dried yeast.
A pinch of bicarbonate of soda.

Put in a bowl, make a dent, and then gradually add:

30ml/2 tbsps of olive oil
180ml/6 fl.oz of luke warm water

Mix with a wooden spoon, then knead on a floured surface for at least ten
minutes. Then let the dough rest, so that it can “prove”.

The dough should expand to at least twice its size, so punch it till it deflates
and then knead again.

On a floured surface, roll out the dough as thin as you can, and place on a
baking tray. Pierce the dough with a fork (all over), and place in a fiercely
hot oven for a minute or two. Remove the pizza bases from the oven, and
flip over, then apply pizza sauce, cheese and whatever toppings, and cook
for about ten minutes.

I'm currently eating a pepperoni pizza from Agra, on Crow Road North.
Nice and fresh, not too greasy, and the price was ok. £6.49 for a 14" (no, I didn't eat it all myself ::):).

I had a Pizza Hut offering the other day, almost twice the price of the above, and bogging.

i had a pizza recipe out of the herald or something years ago, from the head chef at 'air organic' on sauchiehall st. surprisingly, it looked much like the recipe above but it contained a spoonful of HONEY which really gave it a great taste....
