Another non-Glasgow chippie...

Didn't notice it's name but it's located at the northern end of Inverkip just to the left of the turn onto Main Street from the A78. I stopped for a quite bite for lunch a few weeks ago as I had work to do in Inverkip that afternoon. Got a bag of chips (and a couple of buttered rolls) and they were easily the best chips I have ever tasted.

Might have been a fluke (as it's the only time I've been in there so don't know if hey are consistently good) but if you're ever down that way I recommend you give it a try.

As for Glasgow chippies, I'd agree with the Chip Chick Inn on Fulton Street, just up from Anniesland X - I've been in a handful of times over the years and it's always good. Bit on the dear side if I remember right though (though I'm happy to pay extra when I know the quality is assured).

The chippie in Inverkip is apparently called "Bongio's"

Any thoughts on the best chip shop in Dennistoun or Haghill area?

One person recommended Benny's on the corner of Cumbernauld Road, next to the Lea Rig, to me.

I always remember the Oxford on Hill St, just off Cambridge Street as being the best I'd tasted, but that was a while ago.

Out of Glasgow too, but the Atlantic in Coatbridge deserved it's award.

I think the place has now shut down, been by it at different times and the shutters were down, they're also no longer on just-eat

I recently had a fish tea in the first chippie on the left in The Gallowgate, coming from the city. the best in a long time and I was told by another diner, that their special fish was the best in the world. I'll be trying it soon.

Is that not the Val D'oro?

I think the Val D'Oro is on London Rd. The chippy on Gallowgate, if it's the one I'm thinking of under the railway bridge, is the Coronation.

The good chippies which I know of are as follows (in no particular order):

- Benny's Fish & Chicken Bar, Alley Parade
- The Coronation Cafe, Near the Trongate
- The Oxford, Garnethill

It was refurbished recently, but it's still a good chippy. (Just don't make the mistake I made, which was to eat my supper outside the Oxford, when every beggar under the sun wants "a wee loan for a bus fare").

Cosmo Chicken bar in Govan Road cooks everything to order. Crispy chips spot on.

I visited thon chippie while serving my time/working in Fairfields/Kvaerner.

Fully concur .. fries a rare chip.
