My favourite was always Valdoro's at Glasgow cross. When I was wee the food seemed amazing. Haven't been in for years though.

If you are ever out for a drive up that way, head to Bridge Of Allan.
The Allanwater Cafe has THE best chip shop EVER!! And I mean it, I head up to B.O.A. sometimes just to go there!!
If you like fish ask for a large cod or haddock, it is HUGE!! Don't get any chips because you won't be able to finish the whole lot, I can't and believe me I'm a fat b**tard!!

But my sister's chippie has just been shortlisted for the the Best UK Fish & Chip Shop 2006!!! It's in Mintlaw near Fraserburgh though...

Just to bump this, the wee place in Merkland Street (never bothered looking at the name) has great chips.
On the whole I can never tell much difference between chippies, but these were extra good.

Went to Harry's on Dumbarton Road at Broomhill (next to the now shut down Local), and got my dad and myself 2 fish suppers the other week for £6, all i can say is WOW, you could get away with feeding 2 with one supper.
Also do 2 suppers for £5, as well as 2 fish suppers for £6
Well worth a try

Jaconelli's chippy on Maryhill Road is under different management from the ice cream parlour next door.
It used to be a bit manky, but the girl who took it over has really given it an overhaul, and it's a huge improvement. We only go every so often, but we know our food will be freshly cooked. Reasonably priced too.

I thought that might have been it, we walked past it then when we doubled back walked in there and the girl said they had shut at 10.... It was ten.... Damn, I'll get up there again. It did look pretty decent.

My local chippie "The Frying Scotsman" won some award recently for best chips in Scotland or something.
I've not been since I started my diet but they do make a ridiculously good bag of chips.
Edit: A quick search confirms it won the "Perfect Portion" award from
LOVECHIPS.COM
