A chunky/meaty, tasty sandwich

Postby DKeith0904 » Fri May 27, 2011 9:54 pm

New here, be kind...

I was in New York last year and obviously visited local deli's to sample big feckin massive sandwiches. My personal favourite was the pastrami sandwiches. Sweet lord. Anyway, i'm craving really good sandwiches, in particular, a really chunky sandwich, packed with meat so that you can barely get your mouth around it. Alas, Glasgow is no New York and I wouldn't imagine many places do such a fulfilling sandwich. My question, though, is where does the most loaded, chunky, full of meat sandwiches? I'm a fan of Cafe Hula but just want more in my sandwich!

Any suggestions

Well they're not on par with Katz's Deli in New York, but the best place to get a proper 'New York' style pastrami sandwich would be either of the two Il Cappuccino shops, one on Great Western Road (at Kelvin Bridge) and on Victoria Road (opposite Queens Park Station).

They've a load of cured meats, speciality cheeses, etc. so you'll bound to be able to find something that tickles your palette!

Pedant

–noun
1. a person who makes an excessive or inappropriate display of learning.
2. a person who overemphasizes rules or minor details.
3. a person who adheres rigidly to book knowledge without regard to common sense.

[Dictionary]

Aye, there are a few of them.

Sod-all pedantic about that. It's not as if the words are even homonyms. Palate/pallet, I could grant you.

How's about this one, from the Corrections column of one of today's newspapers?

• An article on the project to find the lost bones of Cervantes stated that he died just 10 days before Shakespeare. To clarify: Cervantes and Shakespeare both died on the same date – 23 April 1616. However, Spain was using the Gregorian calendar at that time, and England the Julian; there is a 10-day difference between them.

Brilliant.

The Devil finds work for idle hands - better that they're bothering newspaper editors than troubling people who are making themselves useful.

I was once accused of being a "Hair-splitting pedant". I replied,"Sir! That is tautology."

Hare splitting pedant would have been acceptable in the company of butchers.
"I before E, except after C" works in most cases but there are exceptions.
