The Montrose Bar

Postby onyirtodd » Mon May 12, 2008 8:11 am

There was a question/ mention a wee while back about a pub just off the Broomielaw ( I can't find the post). I wonder if the answer is the Montrose Bar (aka The Monty). My wee brother mentioned it in conversation last night.

Feel free to delete/ relocate this as appropriate.

We used to have a couple of starters every Friday in The Montrose. It was a bit of a dive in those days.

I used to like the Montrose - it was the only decent boozer near my workplace (York St.). Real fire and a decent enough pint of Guinness. The old boy that owned it made a mint when he sold out to the developers (although they still hadn't started building anything on the site the last time I passed).

According to the 'Old Glasgow Pubs' site, the interior bar and gantry was shipped to the Old College Bar, High Street.
