£50million(!?!) could be better spent surely

I read that tonight in the ET when i was visiting someone in Hospital. (Don't buy it honest).

£50M nae chance £5M would do it. Maybe a typo by the ET. Or maybe it is part of a bigger Plan? Who would use it anyway. I'm fucked if i could get my 3.0L Carbon producing monster of an environmentally unfriendly tank down it.

Oh, is it about pedestrians.....mmmmmm...don't see many of them these days. The money could make an excellent Psycho Path to replace some of those which are getting wiped out (albeit temporarily i'm told) by all the Clydeside redevelopment.

Get rid of it! No way the things classic, but then Glasgow has an awful habit of destroying its iconic structures. Take the St. Enoch station or Red Road as an example.

Famous, imfamous, notorious. And so on...

You really have to think why bother? The Living Landmarks fund that they're applying to to pay for this is the same fund that the Necropolis Revitalisation programme applied to, there was also a proposal developed to save the sorely dilapidated (so sorely its in danger of collapse) Sprignburn Glasshouse but never got to the application stage - this fund could be FAR better utilised!

How much usage would this bridge actually get if it were completed I wonder? Not a lot at night I shouldn't think with all the creeps and prostitutes on Waterloo St after dusk. Having said that, the crossings at the Anderston undercroft are a disgrace and a health hazard on top of being a completely dead space - in all senses - so perhaps it would be welcomed and used.

I definitely think there are higher priorities for this specific type of funding. Could give you a list of you want (...anyone with any decision making power in respect to this subject within GCC...). I'm sure we all could.

The bridge to nowhere would likely become the next stone flingers at traffic or jumpers last step site. Knock it down and improve the crossings.

I spotted a guy on it close to the end yestersday taking pics when I was joining the Kingston Bridge, I did wonder if it was anyone from here...

Also think I spotted the same guy taking pics of an old Church in Dumbarton Road later in the day :)

I can confirm that there's a roundabout on the outskirts of Airdrie with no exits. I always assumed there there must have been plans for industrial units or housing which never came to fruition.

I used to work on the bridge deck of Tay house btw. There's a load of dull, and probably bollox, rumours concerning the construction that building if anyone's interested.

How do you get to it?

I'd be more worried about how to get OUT of it in the unlikely event you get trapped on it

There's a roundabout on the outskirts of Dreghorn, near Irvine, which only has two exits (i.e. making it worthless). You can see it on Live Local here. There looks like there was going to be a third exit, but no idea where it was going to go!

Bit off topic I know. ::):

Possibly a safety measure to discourage lane crossing. Any locals know any better?

Or for future plans. Look at the roundabout on the middle of Pacific drive for example. For years it was a total pointless roundabout with only the main route exits. Now there is a minor exit for the Science centre and soon to be a final exit for the planned development
