Does anyone ever remember a wee fish tea place at the back of St Enochs. It was called the Cottage or something?

Yes I remember that particular eatery, Chips a chip steak and pea's for £1.50..

The Lido cafe in Saracen St Possil had amazing painted mirrors, I think they may still be there.

This was mentioned here a few years ago and miraculously it's still there. Not for long though as there's a Beanscene opened up two doors down. It's a really atmospheric place. Some photies here

Was in Bonis today for the first time. What a time warp, it was a great being in there and not babysittingscene down the road. The old couple looked like they couldve done with retiring, the poor cafe was lonely but the coffee was great , and so was the ice cream!

Good God almighty! Is wee Netta still alive, never mind still grafting in Bonis? I used to hang about Clarkston Toll in the early 90s and they would let dozens of us shelter in there all night for the price of a Coke each. She looked about a 100 years old then! I think Hubbies name's Sammy, not too sure about that now though.
Oh the stories of that cafe. Mostly involving Govan Drug Squad and them trying to find out whose nickname was what on the infamous tick list

I can't believe this is still open! I spent many an evening in there huddled over a cup of tea in those little glass tea cups, smoking and generally larking around. Good times

In fact how about an hg cafe tour, how many choccie biccies, coffees and old style cafe's can we do? Definately the weather for frequent stoppages for hot drinks.

Just a quick update on this thread for those interested...
Bonis was badly flooded in August 2008 and closed until March 2009, however it is now back in business, operating as it always has, and yes - Sam & Netta are still grafting away 6 days a week! 13:00ish to 19:00ish (closed Tuesdays).
The penny slots are still on the toilets and the place is still as it was in the 1970s. Well worth a visit.
