Or is that just an urban legend.

What about Orange Juice were they not part of a indi record label that was based in Glasgow?

Orange Juice use to practise in West Princes street, right across the road from my bedroom....... many many moons ago. :D

Well Alan Horne's flat was in West Princess Street so I would say yes. Felonious used to share PA hire with OJ in the early days. It was kept in a basement in Balliol Street.

There were a number of musicians in the Woodlands area at the time, as I'm sure there still are, including the apparently unmentionable Strawberry Switchblade. Who really did go about dressed like that all the time.

It was the pink Cadillac that put us purist obscurists off The Precious Organisation.

Whatever happened to Wilf Smarties?

For the benefit of younger viewers here are Strawberry Switchblade.

IMO a top class pop single.

Yup, a class act. Rose sang with Current 93 (one number, Coal Black Smith) at the Arches Install festival a few years ago.

That was a great shop too. I used to be in it all the time when it was still on the Pollokshaws Road and I walked by it daily. The guy would let me buy albums over the weekend that weren't officially 'out' until the Monday if I asked him nicely.

Then it moved to Shawlands Arcade and disappeared. I had hoped it had moved somewhere else, as there OUGHT to be independent music stores like that.

Sad.

All within the Buckfast Triangle, I suppose, but technically they were from Bellshill.

Leiber and Stoller wrote Framed for The Coasters as a follow up to Riot in cell Block #9 . Alex Harvey took it somewhere else.
