Nice one Stoop.

Any suggestions on where would be the most appropriate place to commemorate him :?:

Some interesting photos on his site.

I recognise the old one with the man who looks like Tom. Can't remember his name but he was the leader of a religious group. I came across that photo whilst doing a friend's Family History research. The religion was big in Barrhead.

Striking resemblance to Tom ::):

Except as a fule may no no, he was born in Govanhill and was adopted by Jim McManus, the brother of Taggart's old man making Brian Connolly a foster cousin of Taggart.

jackbruce.com confirms Bishopbriggs.

Cyclo is probably thinking of Lorraine Kelly. Easy mistake to make

I didn't say he was from East Kilbride per say, I said his mum lived there. Honestly, ye'd make sh*te lawyers the lot o' yez.
Here's the quote...
"Jack Bruce is from East Kilbride (or at least his maw used to live next door to Joe MacIvor, a retired policeman who used to have a four track in his spare room)."
So there. :-)

Re Tom Russell...Mr. R and his wife run a B&B next to Palacerigg Country Park in Cumbernauld. My mate stayed with them for a coupla months after he (my pal, not Mr R.) got chucked out by his wife. IIRC Mrs R. has a pottery business out there too. Me pal says they're a lovely couple and Tom spent a few minutes with him every day chatting about music.

Aye fair do's but you can't just say

"5+5=9 (or maybe it disnae)"

then no expect folk to correct the premise if it is indeed wrong! You can't expect DickyHart and onyirtodd to sit on the guilty knowledge that he's actually from Bishopbriggs because you've previously built in the insurance policy of saying "at least" to indicate you may be wrong.

I can't believe I'm sitting typing this pish.

I doubt any of us can believe we're sitting reading it.

Venues - current and lost and stories pertaining to...

Postby Cyclo2000 » Tue Oct 23, 2007 8:16 am

Just wot it says on the tin....

Lost
The Apollo - First gig I ever went to, Lindisfarne at the Apollo in 74.
Tiffanys - Adam and the Ants 79 or 80, you can say what you like about afterwards but there was a moment when they were the best live act in the country. About a month later I saw Bow Wow Wow at the garage supported by Jimmy the Hoover. Out of all those Burundi Black style drum bands the Ants were head and shoulders the best.
Maxwell Plums - Sort of place to see Jamie Barnes and Cochise on a Saturday afternoon.
Nightmoves (Rooftops?) - I saw the Cocteau twins at Nightmoves. Unlkely but true
The Plaza - Louise Weiner outta Sleeper winked at me when I was going to the lavvy.

I'm sure some of the other guys'll be much better at this game than me. There must be a dozen bars and a handleful of other venues. Is Fury Murrays still there?
