Cheers HH , if you are visiting don't forget your bolt cutters as the street is now closed with a chained 6 foot gate :(
The bushes are too convenient for various poor wretches , some of whom doss in the building in the mid distance.

You cannot make out from the picture , but there is a pavement each side where the bushes are growing and there is a disused streetlight just visible on the right.

Payed a return visit to Milan Street today (without bolt cutters) , imagine generations of workers trudging up most days and perhaps leaving more happily on a Saturday afternoon?

There have already been a couple of posts on Elmbank Street Lane , with one photo still available , but since I was down there today I might as well bore you with my efforts . I have had to jazz them up with Dynamic HDR because that's this weeks' obsession :!: Using a single image for input seems to produce a bad trip ?

The lane benefits from the best practice in trenching and reinstatement -

I usually park in Calton Place and walk over the bridge, the last time that I was there, I noticed that one of the buildings facades (nearer to the court house) is actually boarded up and they have cleverly painted windows on the boards to make it in keeping with the rest of Calton Place. Does anybody know what the situation is with that part of the building? I am crap at unploading photos - they usuall end up in cybergrave so there is no point in me trying.

Fordneuk Street in Bridgeton , North of Broad Street. Trackway for carts still in place. Perhaps salvaged trackway kerbs re-used at the edge of the asphalt?

Interesting area - you can see the Camlachie Burn if you wander South , with a new aspect due to recent demolition. Didn't get a photograph unfortunately.

I spent the first three years of my life living on Broad Street. Haven't been back since. Must take a wee wander down there some day.

There's a few interesting buildings left on Broad St, well worth a look.
I often get my lunch at the burger stand just to the right of Vinegar Tom's photo (although that's not worth seeing ::): ).

Glasgow Ken - I had a roll n' sausage from that van earlier this year - it was fairly manky, but I was starving :)

Fat Cat - you were probably too young to remember (3?) , but do you have any family stories about your Broad Street home?

The area is well worth a visit.
