You may well be right. I thought the road junction down in that corner would have been Elmbank Street. If you're right it would be India Street (?) but the distance from North Street looks too great.

Elmbank Street is where the bus is about to cross in my first photo: India Street is where the bus is crossing in my second photo (I should really have posted the second photo first!). I'm sure that's India Street you can just see in Mori's photo, as there were no other streets between India and North Street.

^ again you're probably right. I remember (or think I remember) the garage (Wylie & Lochhead?) between India Street and Elmbank Street being demolished (and business relocated to Berkeley Street) but I thought the south side of St Vincent Street had been demolished before then.

Do you mean the old Gale & Barclay garage which you can see in my first photo, on the corner of St. Vincent and Elmbank Street, although it may have been taken over by Wylies by that time.

That's certainly the right location though I don't recall the name Gale & Barclay. Did SRC simply take over the garage site?

I've not added to this thread for a while so with Christmas gluttony to burn off I jumped on my bike with my camera and the 2 new books I got for Christmas (old Clarkston and Old Cathcart) and got some present shots of the scenes in the books.

Well done, and great set Dave. You've put me to shame, since I got one of the 'Old...' series of books recently too, and haven't yet got round to doing the 'New'.

Got a selection of photos taken during the demolition of the old Strathclyde building on St Vincent Street. From the photos I have I don't thin your original was taken from the same building. It looks like it was taken from further to the east.

The Netherlee pictures...are they the area also known as Arthurnetherlie way way back (early 19thC)? If so my gg (something) grandad was born there.

By sheer coincidence I found this on an old school magazine.
