Not too much, up until about 20-22yrs ago, the area now occupied by the Bookies and a Farmfoods had houses. If I recall rightly, they were the same style as the ones still on Anniesland Rd toward Scotstounhill, but they were derelict for years as I remember me and my mates would try and get in them. Never could.

Would these have been demolished circa 1990, as the 1967 planning documents state that more retail space would be required at that time?

I think they were demolished around 1983 to make way for the other shops that now stand there.

Thats a belter james.

I used to live on Copland Place and i grew up around there ...thats brought back many memories.

There used to be a nestle chocolate machine on the wall just on the inside of the door entrance, i think it used to cost around 3d for a bar i always got a bar before i went on my subway journey.

There was a news kiosk there at the corner it had been closed for years then i did see it open 1 day when i had moved away from there... i dont think it done a lot of business and ended up closing again i heard.

Many thanks for that mate. :D

Brilliant set James, especially the Dalmarnock Road ones.

The sign on the bridge in the 1974 picture says Tartan Arrow. They were a well known transport outfit in those days, specialising as far as I can remember in groupage traffic. I think also that they had a depot in Dalmarnock, hence the location of the sign.

Thanks, I've been wondering about that. People still refer to it roundabout there, "go past the tartan arrow n turn left" or whatever.

It's also still East End sawmills on that spot. There're some funny shaped buildings accross from it, like remnants of a cinema or somehting.

In the '64 Cowcaddens photo, any idea what the building with the tall arched windows (each one of which is partly obscured by a lamp post in photo) was?
