I saw some of the cast of 'Take the High Road' when I was there. And also Simon Le Bon's old boat 'Drum' which famously came-a-cropper in the mid eighties, acting as an omen for Duran Durans faltering popularity.

Was. Smooth FM in its search for the elusive under 60 audience which is only served by Radio 2, Clyde2, Real Radio , Rock FM and BBC Radio Scotland never mind Radio4 and Classic FM they dumped Glen, parked Art Sutter at weekend and restricted the playlist by a few thousand records.

Recently found several thousand long-lost slides. Here's a couple pro-tem. Will be happy to post more soon if folk would like to see them.

How are you? Whilst I have trillions of scanned slides (which have nearly filled two 64-zettabyte hard drives and date right back to earliest times when St Mungo first converted The Tongs), I don't, unfortunately, have any shots of Strathclyde Park, pre Strathclyde Park. Must've missed that one. As it happens I worked in the park (manning rescue launches) just after it opened, but all my pics of that area are fairly recent.

I wasn't getting in a bit of ageism practise, it was a genuine question . It wasn't flooded till the seventies, and I wasn't quite sure if you were a native of the region at that time. Although it could be said that your user name implies not, I suppose.

My grandparents' garden incorporated stone from Hamilton Palace, and they're buried near the family members transferred from the Hamilton Palace Mausoleum, so I have a minor interest in the area.

Sorry - didn't mean my reply to sound glib. No worries about ageism or anything else - honest.

No - I wasn't living in the Motherwell/Hamilton area at the time - was living a bit further to the West. My family came from the area though and I was forever up and down the Clyde Valley, Hamilton, Motherwell, etc, so I have vague memories of the area before it was flooded, but didn't really start taking photos till I picked up a legendary ZENIT EM circa 1976 and then it was mostly trains.

Interesting about the Hamilton Palace. Were members of your family interred in the Mausoleum at one time? You are of noble blood sir! It's a great tragedy that The Place was demolished - what a legacy that would have been for the area if it could've been preserved. I'm very grateful that Chatelherault was rescued and that the Mausoleum survives too (will need to do one of the guided visits this year).
