See. That is pish. Its fucking ugly and ruins the view from around half of the park.

Hidden on the wall to the right is a wonderful wee Rogue One piece; Looks classy, unobtrusive and actually has something meaningful to say.

Sorry am i missing something here? graffiti is an eyesore, it is vandalism. The city is a pure mess, every where ye look its full of daft scribbles, even on road signs. I dont reckon it should be given any attention in any way. Posting it on the web gives these folk more publicity than they already deserve. I vote that this thread is removed from the site (this is a democracy init :D ). Is anybody with me here or will i just shut up. I do think my point is valid btw.

You have a valid point DC :) Thread stays though! It will happen regardless of whether or not we take pictures of it, and its as much a part of Hidden Glasgow as any other subject.

There's basically one simple rule to follow: if you don't like: don't look!

All the best,

Crusty :D

I think the point moves into the area of mindless tagging for some wee snot to be able to hold his head high and point at their mark. This is vandalism/eyesore etc. as it's usually done on the aforesaid roadsigns, and people's doors, and any other handy, clean surface wthout regard for damage.

Most of the graffiti featured here is generally located out of the way where the artist can work in relateive peace and the work will be left.

In fact, looking at some of the recent posts, I noticed that some of them had tags sprayed over the graffiti.

Trouble is, some potential graffiti artists don't know which camp they're in. One near me is developing his style in colour on walls out of the way, but still can't resist grabbing a can of black and tagging the centre of every freshly painted white wall on the local community centre with his RAD tag.

Exactly! The only reason we know who built the Great Pyramid of Egypt is because one of the workmen painted some graffiti on a granite block in one of the weight relieveing chambers within the pyramid naming the Pharaoh

So, where do we draw the line?
http://www.eveningtimes.co.uk/news/5044491.html

Graffiti was sprayed over the inside and outside, windows were smashed and seats badly damaged. The station was also vandalised.

I dooubt there's any line to be drawn.

There no relation between a paint spraying vandal, intent on damage and destruction using paint, feet, excrement or whatever, and a grafitti artist... except in the mind of a journalist looking for a good headline, and some words to pad out his story and earn some brownie points.
