There is a war memorial, inside , on the ground floor of the Scottish Legal building in Bothwell Street, if my memory serves me well.

The Cameronians Scottish Rifles memorial is one of the best I have ever seen, so much action going on.

I agree Vlad. This is my favourite memorial. Sadly the bushes around it obscure it from the public walking along the main road.

Certainly caught my imagination as a child. I'm sure the half the time I pestered my mum to take us to "the art galleries" I really wanted to see this figure group.

The only UK memorial I have seen which eclipses it in terms of emotion and in stone and bronze artistry is Charles Jagger's magnificent Royal Artillery Memorial on Hyde Park Corner in London. Dedicated to the memory of 49,076 men.

Yeah, that's a nice one. It's also unusual in that one of the figures is dead. He's lying prone with a ground sheet covering him. Great image.

I had a look at the memorial in Alloa. It's my new favourite. Four figures which are arranged around an "angel" figure. They're carved to look as if they're rising out of the mud. Fantastic.

There's also this one, which I really like and is totally off-topic because it's in Maxwelltown.

When i was at North Glasgow College there was a memorial on the central stair case for those who worked for the North British Locomotive Company, am no sure if there was a stained glass windae there aswell, ye wouldnae get a photie of it cause the stair case was out of bounds for students (to save wear and tear on the carpet i think). The place was used as a war hospital in wwII. I also remember reading in the paper a few years back that there is war graves of two German POW's in Lambhill Cemetery, cannae mind how they ended up there.

Do you think the college would allow someone to take a photo if they asked for access. It would be great to get one as I had heared about this memorial before.
