Regarding the bus crash with the taxi on Queen Victoria Drive at Danes Drive, I have found some information on the incident. I went to the Mitchell Library in North Street, Glasgow and accessed the "Herald" newspaper microfilms.

The information below all comes from the newspaper report.

Go the "The Glasgow Herald" Saturday 05 August, 1972. Look at the report on Page 1, and the picture of Glasgow Corporation bus, LA211 on page 3.

It appears that the taxi was heading west (towards Scotstoun) on Danes Drive and collided with the bus, a service No: 9, heading south on Queen Victoria Drive (towards Dumbarton Road) en-route to George Square when they collided. At the time there were no traffic lights at the junction.

They collided and ended stationary in the garden at 99 Queen Victoria Drive, and according to the then residents of the house, Mr and Mrs Thomas McNay, this was the second such collision and called for traffic signals to be installed.

Two taxi passengers, Robert McEwan (60) and his wife, Elizabeth (59) of 280 Lincoln Avenue, Knightswood, Glasgow, who were home in holiday from Canada, were both killed, while the taxi driver, Hugh Brown, (52) of 127 Templeland Road, Pollok, Glasgow, was detained in hospital with multiple injuries.

Two bus passengers were injured: Robert McTaggart, (56) 9 Chaplet Avenue, Knightswood, Glasgow, had chest injuries, while Alan McFarlane, 7, 10 Inchfad Drive, Drumchapel, Glasgow, sustained injuries - see one of the above comments for more on this.
