hahaha... Im dying to get an excavation going :)!!!!! seriously tho! ::):
Im trying to muster the energy to go and do some research on it.

I dont think it was originally used as a petrol dump as it appears on the map of 1893... not much petrol going about then! Also, if the Queenie was a target for the Germans, why would we be dumping petrol there... so close to my house!!!

Theres no indication of it being lead-lined although most of its buried. There are some strange pieces of stone lying about in the undergrowth. You can tell the stone has been worked, and theres also some marble-like pieces lying around. I dont think the are marble, they look more like those transluscent chukkies you get for ur driveway.

Also, the old pond (on the NLS map) has been partially filled in Im assuming with the debris from the buildings around there. Theres also a wee dilapidated bridge that looks as though some recylcled stone's been used for the foundations.

Im away to call in Tony Robinson!

Got quite a fancy detector if I do say so myself. I'm off the weekend so I may pop down early Saturday morning... Are you going to the other place on sat?

Lucky you...i've been looking at making a metal detector cos i can't afford to buy one!! I have my doubts about how useful a home made one would be though....

...so have you found any treasure????

Probably the Ye Olde equipment & bellwire connection @ my end  But this 128k Spectrum was all the rage in my day. It's even got 512k RAM and 16 colours. I can even programme it in BASIC by typing in 9000 lines of code and it'll make a beeping noise and the screen flashes. Try doing that on your 3.4ghz Hyperthreading box o' tricks. As for your Bluetooth! that was what we got after eating a blue slushpuppy from RS McColls  Now where did I put those Werther Originals?? Dam! my pipes just went out. sook!sook!

OK now you've figured out it's 72Dpi, try image size of 640x480. And then my comp will load up like err, broadband ::):

how the hell do you make your own metal detector? Doesn't it involve electro-magnets and other such stuff.
