I'm guessing at 1980/81 for the Follies. Open guide puts it at circa 1986. Glasgow Story says 1982.

Aye i remember goin in there for the 1st time, totaly amazed at their laser lighting system, Blue monday was blasting at i dont know how many watts from their extra large speakers lying on the edge of the dance floor.

Met a beautiful Blonde with piercing blue eyes that snoged me that night, she has always remained in my mind for many years. :D

La Mirelle. I think yer right. Had a fountain in the courtyard. Was passingly trendy for a while. Think they had a bar too.

I worked in La Marelle/Cardinal Follies, must have been late eighties, that fountain was probably the biggest ashtray of any pub in Glasgow, end of the night it was full of fag buts, pieces of fruit, straws and other bits 'n' pieces.

Panama Jacks was on the north side of the Clyde, by the suspension bridge, and it later became the Trading Post.

Can't vouch for the Devils Advocate, but I think that it was next door to Panama Jacks.

There is/was a Devils Advocate pub/restaurant across from the back entrance of the Sheriff Court.

 Panama jacks used to be the old manhattans nightclub next door was the coconutgrove above it on clyde st
was devils advocate and the trading post was on the other side of the clyde cheers Billy

Dexter St. Clair wrote:Popped into The Imperial Bar tonight and was pleasantly surprised. it's had some work done to it but what Glasgow pub hasn't About half a dozen guys in keeping Shirley the bar maid busy. Coronation street on the two 14" CRT TVs, McEwan's Export and Younger' special on draft. It's a semi horse shoe bar with an old gantry and a pleasant atmosphere. Wooden floor and planty of tables and chairs to accommodate a paty of HGrs.

I also visited McSorleys. Quiz night with seven punters and a lap top DJ and little heating . A good selection of draft lager and an optimo soundtrack.

The Quarter gill had one punter and a barman of the old school.

Who's up for a beer at the Imperial in Howard street?

Hello
I've done my homework and searched through the posts and here's my twopennyworth :D
First ever pub I went to at (lunchtime from school )
Dreams - it was roughly opposite the ABC cinema and it was a bit of a first in Glasgow in the early 70's - psychadelic paintings etc etc and not much else!
The Maggie/ Dial Inn/ Bier Keller - remember the barman wore black glasses / / Howff -used to hang around with Paul and his mates/- listened to bands such as Sneeky Pete /Otto Von Jock/Quins Snug/ Jazz sessions on a Saturday morning in the pub under the Uni Halls - can't remember the name :(
There'll be more :D
Yes HH,I know
