A new £50 million bridge has been proposed across the River Clyde in Glasgow.

The road bridge would link Yoker, in the west of the city, with Renfrew and will slash travel times to Glasgow Airport.

I'll have to increase my shareholding in Knightswood taxis.

The road bridge would link Yoker, in the west of the city, with Renfrew and will quickly become a congested road space, A councillor gave this soundbite 'more cars, must have more cars on our roads'.

Then again I'm cynical. And I want a monorail from the Kelvin Hall to the Riverside and over to Govan. Now that would be a plan.

Renfrewshire Council is leading the multimillion pound project, which is expected to begin in 2018 or 2019.

I'd love to see the business case for this.

Two miles West, you'd use the Erskine Bridge. Two miles East, the Clyde tunnel. Are they hoping to attract Yoker residents to take those thousands of unfilled vacancies currently on offer from desperate Paisley employers?

10% of the available funds. Fifty million fucking quid. What could you do with that? I'll wager that if you asked everyone in the Renfrewshire Council area that question, "Build a bridge from Renfrew to Yoker" wouldn't even be in the top hundred.

Given any bridge has got to be big enough to allow large ships from Scotstoun and Govan to navigate through (assuming the yards continue fighting to live another day of course...), it's going to have to be one hell of a structure. £50m doesn't really build you much these days in the grand scheme of things.
