I know the burn can be seen at Molendinar Park which is (I think?) in Blackhill. We could meet in the Park at, say, 10 AM on the 29TH?

Check this out:
http://www.roystonroadproject.org/main_menu_page.htm
for views of park and burn.

But then again maybe Hogganfield Loch would be better? What do people think?

Found this 'how to map dowse' site, by pendulum or L-rods. Would'nt it be ridiculous if it actually worked?
http://www.canadiandowsers.org/How_to_map.html

Molendinar Park at 10AM on the 29th then? I'll be getting the bus. Anyone know which ones go out that way?

http://anamspirit.com/lrndows.htm

heres another one for pendulum dowsing....which helps to "show us the way".

Dowsing is also known as divining as my Mum pointed out when she had no idea what i was asking her about. This communication breakdown occuring even after previous conversations about the subject.

She also mentioned that Hazel twigs were often used for divining...i might try and find some!

Right, I've got the maps, after half a day at the Mitchell and the Archives, and they seem to suggest that the Molendinar doesn't go through Royston! It looks like a tributary, probably the Gadsburn. My suggestion would be to start at Jail Square (now Jocelyn Square) at the foot of the Saltmarket, site of former public hangings, and inspect the outfall where the burn reaches the Clyde (opposite the foot of Mart Street), then expedite (or whatever the verb from expedition is) to the source of the Molendinar. This would take us from the known to the unknown, the exoteric to the esoteric (as it were).
It's about three miles, but a twisty three miles, so I guess we need to allow at least three hours for this. And we can get the 36 bus back from Hogganfield Loch to the city centre. Looking forward to seeing you all, including the Jim the Artful Dowser, Graeme Positioning System, Crunchy Mint and all the other flaneurs and flaneuses.
Best, Ronnie

10am is a bit early for me on a Sunday, but I'll make the sacrifice!!
The west enders could meet at the top of Byres Road to catch a bus into town (too early for the subway, I think).
I'm looking forward to this ...
Best, Ronnie

Jim, I hope you are appreciating the horror you are spreading with the 10AM Sunday start.... this has only been a myth for many i fear!!

I best start hunting for a hazel tree or some old coathangers!!!

Shall we go with Ronnies suggestion of meeting at Jail Square 10 AM (or could we make it 10:30?) on the 29th? Once this is decided i'll post it proper as an announcement thingy :)
