Happy 70th! All things East Kilbride

Postby Pointyears » Sun Mar 05, 2017 12:59 pm

East Kilbride will be seventy years old. It was the first post war New Town, Glenrothes followed soon after, then attracted many cutting edge and prestige companies. It has not had its sorrows to seek of late in these austere times but it is seeing a slow but steady resurgence. Any East Kilbride obscurities and memories? Please post here.

east kilbride ,lived here for 54 years ,still finding new streets to walk ,sure its not shawlands or hyndland but it is what it was meant to be,originally working class people moving out of city ,making a healthier lifestyle, and it has been a good thing, lets not be so negative,

I have happy memories of East Kilbride.
I recall the date my brother-in-law Gordon Marshall was honored 'First Freeman of East Kilbride'- a great man who did a lot for the town.
