Found this during some Uebex in Glasgow. Any ideas?

I was in an old Garage and came across this trolly. Any idea what it is, or rough date?

That's a seriously heavy duty set of wheels on whatever it is. I haven't got any better ideas than Pingu's, though. Is that a leather strap for pulling it along that I spy in the bottom photo? What an odd thing.

Should have put in somerhing for scale. its about 75 cm long.

there seems to be 4 rings, 2 at front and back. kind of like it was coupled with similar trolleys. i thought it looked like something that children would pull along in a victorian mine. but the wheels dont have 'lips' to run on rails.

it was in a garage thst had been closed for 15 years. the wheels ate as high as the wood, so id say there has to be a container on top of it, otherwise the wheels could get in the way.

Its a typical kind of bogie that would have been used in engineering works for moving bits & bobs around.

Grandad used to work in the undertaking business. They used to borrow this thing called a "bier" which is a device used for moving coffins around. This looks rather like the description I've been given of one they used to use. If it could take the weight of a dead, well-fed farmer in his box, I'd suppose it could handle an engine or gearbox.
