No bother. They were numbered 1 to 15 clockwise round the system, starting from Govan Cross.

Old Underground Carriage

Postby la1443 » Fri Nov 10, 2006 2:23 pm

Hi all,

It will interest some of you who don't know that there is an old Underground carriage sitting rotting in the old Possilpark bus garage. It may belong to Michael Roulston of Bus World but I think it needs a good home. Anyone with an interest, a big garden and a wadge of money might like to follow this up!

Mark.

I quite fancy that, wonder if my parents would give it a home? I wanted to rescue Millie the dinosaur before they took her away and give her a home!

The PTE was giving them away for nothing in 1977. If you could arrange a lorry, you could take one home.

If my parents hadn't bought a 'summerhouse' type thing the other year then it would have fitted in well. I will still suggest the idea to them though!

Worth a try  Although the guy who owns this one will be looking for a good few quid.
It would be nice if it could restored to original condition, if I had the cash and space, i'd buy it.

Further to your post la, its mentioned in the october newsletter of the Transport Preservation Trust.......

Friday 20th October saw our Glasgow Undergrouns carriage delivered. This trailer carriage at about 50feet long requires the use of a flat bed vehicle and a couple of cranes for its move. It will certainly be a novel exhibit though clearly it requires a lot of care and attention as this is probably its first storage undercover for at least 20 years and the external woodwork has suffered accordingly. Intenally it is remarkably sound and complete.

Amazing how oaother post coincides with stuff you get one day

Mark may have actually seen it though (i'll have to ask him), he's been to Possilpark Depot fairly recently.
It was used for a while to store old buses for Michael Roulston. There's still at least one bus in there.

I really hope that Subway car is saved, that whole Possilpark Depot site is up for sale :?

I was under the impression that the site had been for sale for a while now. There doesn't seem to be any takers...

Hidden Glasgow indeed; I work in Posso and didn't even know there was an old depot there.
