Just looking at my own post in the sober light of day, I think the building on the opposite corner is in fact the same building as the one that houses the pawnbrokers now. It's obviously been renovated and a new facade added, but the door and the upstairs window are in the same place and at some point a pitched roof has been added.

Can anyone help me fill in the blanks:
What was the show filmed for ? was it The Tube?
Who were the other acts
Was it the ultrateque?
What date was it?

Thanks

I was a steward in Ultratheque throughout the 80's and dont remember anything being televised from there.

Out of all of those, I think only the Pewter Pot and the State will exist more or less in the form they were when these review were written! Can't speak for the Victoria Bar - don't really know the south side very well at all.

Clarendon Bar burned down 9 years ago almost to the day - early hours of 24 January 2004.

Incidentally, Dex, do you have the link for where the second advert came from - my dad used to drink in the Eagle Inn many years ago when he first came to Glasgow in the 60's! It'd be interesting to see the whole advert if it's available. :D

The old Glencairn Juniors social club in Rutherglen - wiped out by the M74 extension - did they ever replace it?

Excellent!

Best comment in those reviews? The Elgin Bar - "beautiful bogs".

That's a quote for the flyers, innit?!
