Beltie! :D

That sign wouldn't be on the road to Tongland, would it? (Which is such an improbable and neat name for a village.)

It sure is :) A unusual fact about the tiny Tongland is that it used to have a car factory.

If any you guys are ever near the old Church yard in Johnstonebridge could you photograph a couple of the headstones for me, you will know them when you see them.

Cheers,

I was down at the weekend, but nowhere near Johnstonebridge I'm afraid. It's piqued my curiosity now though.

This be the lovely wee Kirkcudbright, trap for the unwary of pronunciation, near sunset down at the harbour (which is really just a big wall on one side of the river Dee, I suppose)...

And this is the bridge at one end of it, an unusual concrete affair (of 1924, according to J R Hume, and who are we to doubt him):
Image

The same wee boat that popped up earlier in the thread, as I've just realised:

And what looks like an actual active fishing industry going on. Nice to see the place working, and not just being another marina if you know what I mean:

Too much hard work maybe, so this one's having a wee rest:

Elsewhere, and unrelated, about as many red kites as you're ever likely to see at once:

Here be a squirrel-proof feeder, not quite working as advertised:

Dumfries and Galloway: Scotland with Stile (sorry):

And a couple of random and hackit old dry stane dykes:

A nice abandoned petrol pump in Gatehouse (82p per litre - current price 1.40 per litre).

Nice piece of D&G rail nostalgia on the Scottish Screen Archive. The rail journey between Dumfries and Stanraer - which must have been lovely.

Here, that's very clever. How on earth did you do that, then? (Nice photo too, btw.)
