Dumfries town centre. Nothing like waiting at an old bus stop, Don't think you could get fined for smoking here -

They are very nice bus stops, it has to be said :)

Footwear options in Dumfries:

Random craggy coastline type stuff (with the Isle of Man in the distance, honest):

And, uh, a wall. With some coloured stones. Well, I liked it, anyway:

It's a dyke. Of the drystane variety.

Very nice LP, shame we don't have good old clog repairers anymore! I do know of at least one person who makes and fixes bespoke clogs in that area though.

You are of course quite right :)

Some more stuff...

For the hell of it, here's a tower type thing in Castle Douglas (a town of which I must try to take a decent photo at some point):

Threave Castle being all broody:

Misty hills in the distance (well, it is Autumn):

And up in those misty hills, or some very like them, some more of the sculptures dotted around the place:
Jacob Epstein's statue of Mary, 'The Visitation':

And Henry Moore's 'King and Queen', which has such a brilliantly fitting setting (reminds me of the video for 'Enjoy the Silence'):

I love the epstein sculpture, so delicate and moody :)

Never been so much of a fan of henry moore, although i was sad when their heads were cut off!!!

I pent the weekend in Galloway forest park, here one of the otter pools from around 4 o'clock, before it started pissing it down :) When I was a kid there used to be little bronze otter sculptures here.... seems to be a theme that bronzes don't last long in these parts... :?

Awfy nice, both :)

I think the Epstein one's a lot finer in real life than my photo suggests, to be honest. The King and Queen probably wouldn't be my thing either if it was in a gallery, say, but there's something perfect to me about where it is. I'll quit now before I start to harp on about it transforming its surroundings into art by its presence there, or pish like that.

Yes, it is certainly true that all sculptures are perfectly sited and work amazingly well in the landscape.
Glenkiln was always one of my favourite destinations as a young teenager on my little horse (she really didn't like the reclining figures and it was a challenge to get her to pass it...) Happy days.
