Gleniffer Braes mystery building?

Postby gap74 » Sat Aug 09, 2008 11:23 am

Anyone out there have any idea what this building on Gleniffer Road is, halfway between Sergeant Law Road and the main Gleniffer Braes car park? I'm sure I remember it being an unfinished shell for years, whereas now it's obviously finished and occupied, but I'm buggered if I can find any reference to it on the internet!

Someone put me out my misery, even if it's just something horrendously mundane like a curiously located social work office!

A woman from Foxbar told me it was some sort of supported accommodation unit.

Cheers Onny - might have known you'd be familiar with the environs of the Gleniffer car park!

The Robertson car park (that's the tarmac one with the speed bumps and the climbing frame) is best avoided if in-car entertainment is your thing. It tends to be infested with local (ie Paisley) joint rolling neds and inebriate outcasts from Gabriels. Thus it attracts the attention of the law.

Sergeant Law Road (sp) is a much better bet although great care should be taken as it attracts gay men and, at least recently, a gaggle of underagers.

Whoever said there's no such thing as bad publicity should be shot.

i worked in that building a few years ago (5 or so perhaps?), and if i recall correctly, it was some sort of religious headquarters, something like hari krishnas.

Yeah, it was going to be a hotel (Stakis I believe but could be wrong), they half built it as you do and left it for years for neds and plebs to plunder. Also of note beside it is Tannahills Well which is worth a look and if its snowing behind the hotel/religious retreat is one of the best sledging suicide runs on the Braes!

When I worked in Paisley - we had a few patients with "Addiction problems" referred to Kingdom House.

Yeah they did their usual "blah-shit-blah-God" stuff on the guys..But they did do a lot of good.
They got the folk out into the wilderness...(Well it is Paisley based after all) and did basic survival, team buliding, orienteering, financial budgetting, developed cooking and self care skills.

Just thought you'd be interested!
It wisnae me.....Ask emmdy !!
