Was walking past some Antique shops today and just thought I would peek in the window of one of them.
They had a shelf with old jugs and bottles which were advertising various brands of whisky.
Most of them had Glasgow mentioned somewhere on them but one said Watson's Dundee Whisky.
I assume they don't make this brand anymore but then again I haven't checked on Google.
Wondered if anyone had heard of it?

Never heard of it Dot. This popped up on Google though:

Was that you heading down the Hilltown, Fossil? If it's where I'm thinking of, that used to be a good fishmongers. Nice to see Dundee keeping pace wi modern culture.

Thanks for that LP.
Some interesting pictures on that link.
I found some other information which said that Parkmore Distillery was taken over by Watson
around 1900 and was then taken over by John Dewar about 1923. The place was built in 1894 but had been silent since 1931 due to problems with water supply.
Was trying to post the link but came up that there was some sort of problem.

Talking of which you should see the some of the spam e-mail my other half gets on his laptop.

Didn't know whether to post this here or on the HBOS thread.
Perhaps you saw the story on tv but in case you didn't it relates to a dormant bank account in Dundee.

Repeated on Monday night at 10.00pm.

Not long watched it, can't say the local tourist board would have been too happy at the portrayal of the city in it!

Just watching it the now on 4OD - spotted my dad's primary school in the distance in one shot :) Those white multis when she's first walking up the Hilltown are where my gran and my aunt & uncle stayed. They were always nice places to live, mainly filled with older folk and families with kids, though for the last ten years the council have followed a policy of moving in drug addicts and various nutters, with predictable results.

I just knew they'd stick the poor cow in Maxwelltown though (which isn't really part of the Hilltown as far as I know). That particular wee scheme was always grim - I distinctly remember it giving me the creeps as a kid just walking past it in the late 70s - early 80s.

I watched it last night and it was grim in parts but then the ones from Glasgow and Belfast were just the same.
It is good to see people who need it getting help. Felt sorry for those getting food parcels and the Polish people were lovely. You can't imagine people starving in the UK in same way as those in places like India and Africa.

Aye Dot. I have the same problem with Dundonians , cant make out a word they say. Felt sorry for the poor guy.
It has been said that if you pour boiling water over a Dundonian you would have a new flavour of Pot Noodle.

Inevitably, an old jute mill - one of the later ones (1930s mebbe?), now quite nicely converted into flats:
