The bridge was a escape road from the Scottish office in the St James center to the Edinburgh control bunker under calton hill . as you come across the bridge and you head up the street before you get to the stairs going up to calton hill there is two doors looks like a storage cubbyhole one is wood and one is metal thats the way in to the bunker

I can't for the life of me remember exactly where I read about it, but I recall it having a hint of the folklore about it (i.e. very likely exaggerated or made up entirely). I've had a wee dig around (not literally) with no success, but I'll see if I come up with anything. The story definitely had it being in the area where the railway tunnels from Waverley now run.
