Hi Folks, especially any of you interested in tunnels and things underground.

I would like to make you aware of a new CD which has just been produced covering all the Railway Tunnels and most of the Canal Tunnels in the UK.

This CD is the result of three and a half years work and research and contains a wealth of information about Glasgows old lost and forgotten railway tunnels. Some you may already know about, but I'm sure others will surprise you.

This unique CD contains a wealth of information and detail on the UK’s entire Railway Tunnel system and most of the Canal Tunnels.

There is no other publication that contains so much data in a collective format as this CD. Here you will find details of all the UK’s Railway tunnels, including those in-service, disused and those that have been obliterated, by either infilling, opening out or earthing over.

675 (In-Service) tunnels, equating to 240 miles of tunnel:
503 (Disused) tunnels, equalling 130 miles of tunnel:
72 (Obliterated) tunnels of around 10 miles.

A Total of 1250 tunnels to read about and explore. There are 810 pictures and 556 maps contained on the CD - Plus features, and 75 Mineral Line & Tramroad Tunnels, in addition to those mentioned above.

There are details of 82 Canal Tunnels : 50 (Navigable) 28 (Disused) and 4 (Obliterated). Nearly all datasheets contain several pictures and most have maps showing the tunnels position along the canal. Each tunnels length is listed along with its Ordnance Survey Grid Reference, together with any history, details of construction and whatever else could be found out about it.

There are indexes allowing you to check each railway tunnels by its Name, Length, County, Railway Company or Line-of-Rail. Plus many features and articles bringing you facts and data on hundreds of interesting and long forgotten places.

The CD has been written and presented using – Adobe ‘Acrobat’ allowing the data to be enjoyed using any computer operating system from Window’s 3.1 through to Windows-XP. MAC users included. A copy of Adobe Reader version 5.0 is also included on the CD for those systems requiring it.

The information contained on this CD will be invaluable to those wishing to walk or explore the towpaths or some of the long disused railway tracks. It would also make a very suitable gift or present for those who enjoy exploration, and the heritage of the nations transport system.

This CD represents extremely good value for money and will give many hours of viewing pleasure, whilst making a wonderful companion to the traveller wishing to learn more about the UK’s Railway & Canal Tunnel system.

There is a Linux version of Acrobat Reader as well. Bet you didn't think to include that, for those of us who object to paying a fortune every 9 months for semiworking software... ;-)
