Oh, and here's a reflective bit of Old College the other day:

And somebody keeping up the curious habit of leaving flowers at very old tombs in Greyfriars:

Was in Edinburgh on Wednesday night so here's a trio. The big pasteup on Guthrie Street is by Joe Caslin I read today online. Apparently there's a whole series on Cowgate (or was).

Is this little shop ever open? It looked a bit abandoned.

In the last ten years or so I've seen it open twice, and once of these earlier this year. An odd one for sure, that shop.

And aye, that Facebook thing is worth a look - they had their fingers burned a while back for infringing rights, but it's all legit now.

If memory serves me well, Now and Then was run by a chap called David Gordon whose Mum lived round the corner above the Kosher butcher on Buccleuch St. David was (is?) pally with Rob Maxton Graham who opened the original Scayles musical instrument and fishing tackle shop across the road in the late 1970s.

Scayles is now in St Patrick Square, just around the corner, and under new ownership.

Members of the Scottish Defence League, a far-right extremist group have won the right to march in the Edinburgh tomorrow after a judge overturned a banning order.

They will march along Regent Road to St Andrew’s House after their appeal against last month’s ruling by city council leaders to stop them holding a procession was successful.

A march of about 300 yards, which is a considerable increase from the last rather humorously stationary affair.

The usual random collection of photos...

At the top of New Street, which is in a bit of a state of limbo since the 'Caltongate' redevelopment plans fell through:

The Canongate Bus Station, showing a bit of weariness these days:

Huh:

A wee bit of encouragement:

And a wee bit of discontent:

Finally, and back at the other end of New Street, somebody not going up Jacob's Ladder:

Ah, when tram lines weren't just decorative.

Good to see Princes Street Station there. Shame it couldn't have been kept.

Lovely photo LP.

A friend told me she was going to see the Pandas at Edinburgh Zoo.
It seems you have to book to see them and think she went to a lot of trouble to do this.

I happened to say to her was she going to see the Norwegian penguin who is called Sir Nils Olav.
This creature was knighted by the King of Norway.
I have just found out today that the penguins are on a temporary holiday in Belfast.
Well at least some of them are and I think the rest have gone to England and Denmark.
Their enclosure in Edinburgh is undergoing essential maintenance and they will return at end of breeding season.

Feel like a right eejit now.
