Mair questions...

scoop are you going to direct us to your finished pieces?

Be good to see what happens with the feedback you get.

Give something back man

Clearly theres teh Elvis story... and the place is a shabby dump... and its embarassment that this is the first impression many people will get of Scotland.

You must have seen the piece about the subway I did a couple of months ago?

Lots of work is going through at the moment, so watch this space!

What about the millions of pounds worth of Diamonds that have never been found after a cargo plane crashed while on it's final approach to the airport!

How about I do a two thousand word article on the subject and forward it to you?

Aye right!

It seems to be mid-refurb at the moment.

All kinds of rumours about Prestwick airport, but they are just that; rumours.

The main one claiming that there's an underground hospital at the airport, no doubt because it was a former american air force base and built during the cold-war.

There. Is that suitably made-up? :D

Who knows Al, but I remember back in 1991 during Gulf War#1 they stored a vast number of caravans with blacked out windows to be used for transporting the casualties! had things not gone in our favour. Anyone else corroborate this?

In 1989 engineeers at the Prestwick Airport invented the World's First 'invisible dog'.

G8 leaders are using it to arrive in Scotlandfor their annual knees up in July, so should be plenty of ayrshire spook activityin the next few months.

One story I've heard isthat it's frequently used as by "civilian"jets used to transport "terrorist suspects" from the hands of the US to other "friendly" countries where they take a more "relaxed"view on "interrogation techniques" than the US.

It is a process known as rendering.

Here's a picture of one of the jets in Glasgow although CBS don't say whether it is Glasgow Airport or Glasgow Prestwick

There is an abandoned RAF airfield, located between Turnberry and Culzean Bay (near Prestwick) - just along the coast and very close to a light house.

Could that be the original Prestwick Airport which is situated behind the town (close to Ayr).

Intresting things about Prestwick Airport
1)the name of the carpet in the departure lounge is 'Ailsa'
2)it has the largest fuel storage in uk apart from Heathrow
3)a small bottle of coke is still £1.50

There were remains of part of another runway still visible on waste ground behind Prestwick a couple of years ago; I think the area has since been redeveloped though.

Other Prestwick facts: the Palace of Engineering from the Empire Exhibition is still in use as a BAE hangar at Prestwick airport.
