I'm sure he was very funny and that (although I ever took to his manic brand of humour myself) but the coverage has been disproportionate.

When was the last time anyone here mentioned Robin Williams in conversation? Or did you ever in your life?

Now Lauren Bacall, that's a different matter.

Yes, I would tend to agree. Without wanting to denigrate the man's enormous talent he was always a bit too frenetic for my taste, almost like a kind of intellectual Jerry Lewis.

As for Lauren Bacall, no comparison really. She was and will forever remain a screen icon.

Wot they said. A tad over the top. The cult of the personality & the BBC, sigh. Sometimes I think that the 24 hour news channel should be reduced to two broadcasts at say 6pm & 10pm................Oh wait!
