Sits Vac - for the bairns?

Postby The Egg Man » Tue Jan 07, 2014 4:21 pm

In an exciting new partnership with Norwegian youth music organisation UKM Arctic, Edinburgh Youth Gaitherin and Aberdeen International Youth Festival would like to invite applications from young traditional musicians and dancers aged 14-18 from across Scotland to join participants from Norway and other Arctic countries in an international youth music festival. There will also be a chance to take part in a possible Scotland leg of the project taking place as part of Aberdeen International Youth Festival in Summer 2014.

When is it?
30th March - 6th April (although this may change slightly depending on the availability of flights)

Where is it?
Finnsnes in the Troms region of Arctic Norway

Who are we looking for?
We are looking for 7 excellent young traditional musicians aged 14-18 including (but not limited to) a piper, a clarsach player, a fiddler, a Scots singer and a Gaelic singer. Groups who already play together are preferred although soloists will be considered. We will select participants on the basis of their standard of musicianship and also the balance of musicians taking part. We are also looking for 7 Scottish traditional dancers aged 14-18.
