It is pretty good http://www.hiddennewcastle.org/ (apple and normal apps available), but some of it is locked unless you are actually in Newcastle. Part of the excellent Tyne & Wear Archives & Museums stuff on the net.

I lived in Newcastle for 2 years in the 1980's. I had to travel as far as Moscow to find a worse, more gawd forsaken shit hole. No wonder it was chosen as the setting for one of the grimmest even British crime dramas, GET CARTER (Ted Lewis set his novel JACK'S RETURN HOME in Scunthorpe).

Everybody tells me how great it is these days but I've been there, done that and never have to go back (a bit like Moscow then).

I've only ever passed through the place on a train. And once at that, a couple of years ago.

I was well impressed by the bridges. Southbound, after the river, it looked pretty much like they were in the process of demolishing the entire place.

As with high-rises, it all depends on whether all the people in the housing have actively chosen to live there. If they have, then it's Luxury Housing. If they haven't then it's Slums.
