Spotted a news item that might provide an 'awayday' for the keen explorers:
A farmer who was digging the foundations of a new building, has stumbled on a network of ancient tunnels which archaeologists believe are 700 years old. The arched tunnel system runs for a mile beneath Park farm near Linlithgow in West Lothian and is five feet high and three feet wide, running about ten feet below the surface. The stonework is immaculate and the ceiling uses keyed stones to form the arch. This was a form of construction favoured by monks and although it was probably a glorified drain, it could also have been used by the monks as an escape tunnel, if required.
